Always wanted to visit the iconic Sossusvlei sand dunes in the Namib Desert but short on time and money? This 3 day camping tour might be the perfect trip for you.

Join this 3 day private Sossusvlei camping safari to explore the worlds oldest desert.

The Sossusvlei area lays claim to many accolades including being located in one of the largest parks in Africa, being part of a World Heritage Site, located in the Oldest Desert in the world and most famous for having arguably the highest dunes in the world. It is, therefore, no surprise that the Namib Desert, and specifically the Sossusvlei area is the most popular of Namibia’s attractions. It is also home to many endemic species including the Dune lark, Namibia´s only true endemic bird.

Spend 2 night camping in the Sesriem area, enjoying nights by the campfire and under a million stars. Early nights are recommended because early starts are a must in the Namib Desert. Departures from camp before sunrise are the norm to enter the dune field and be atop dune 45 for sunrise, or to be the first hikers of the day to summit the enormous Big Daddy dune, the highest dune in the area offering INCREDIBLE views over the rest of the desert.
Early starts also offer the most incredible light for photography, and the chance to catch wildlife during the cooler part of the day.

In addition to exploring Deadvlei, Sossusvlei & Dune 45, include a visit to Sesriem Canyon, a small but important landmark in the area, as the traditional source of permanent water for wildlife and people in the area. A short climb down into the canyon offers a break from the hot desert temperatures, and the chance to learn about the interesting geological history of the area.

What are the benefits of a private guided safari?
By choosing a private guided you can enjoy greater flexibility than on a group tour where activities and routes are fixed. Choose to skip the ‘crowd’ at Dune 45 for sunrise and head straight up to Big Daddy to be the first, or rather skip Big Daddy altogether and meander around DeadVlei capturing photos from all angles. Enjoy sunset at Elim’s Dune, or Dune 45, or relax at camp, the choice is yours.

By midday, we make our way out of the dunes and to escape the heat of the day. Enjoy lunch (at own expense) before visiting Sesriem Canyon mid-afternoon and returning to camp late afternoon.
