Day 1 Windhoek – Sossusvlei
We leave Windhoek mid morning to allow us enough time to get to our accommodation before sunset . This usually includes a few stops along the way. On the journey you will experience some great scenery as you drive through some mountain passes. Once we arrive you can prepare for a relaxing sun-downer drink.
Day 2 – Sossusvlei
Our Sossusvlei guided excursion starts very early in the morning (before sunrise). The early morning light provides excellent opportunities for photography and our knowledgeable guide will try his best to get you in the best positions for it. We drive into the dunes and you have the opportunity to hike up some of the tallest dunes in the world from where you will have some amazing vistas. Afterwards we have lunch and visit Sesriem Canyon on our way back to your accommodation. The afternoon will be spent relaxing at the lodge.
Day 3 Sossusvlei – Swakopmund
You will drive to Swakopmund via the Guab and Kuiseb passes. This drive takes you through ever changing desert landscapes before arriving in Walvis Bay, the main harbor in Namibia. From Walvis Bay you will continue on a short drive towards Swakopmund where you will stay in a charming guesthouse close to the city centre.
Day 4 Swakopmund
You have a few options on how to spend the day. Highly recommended is the boat cruise in Walvis Bay, where you have a good chance to see some seals and dolphins. Swakopmund is the adventure capital of Namibia so activities ranging from quad bikes to sand boarding and even sky diving are possible here. Please browse through our activities section for some extra activity ideas. There are good restaurants in both towns, with seafood of course being a specialty.
**Activities in Swakopmund are not included.
Day 5 Swakopmund – Damaraland
Start your day early and head northeast towards the diverse and scenic Damaraland. If time allows, in the afternoon you will visit Twyfelfontein (literally translated means ‘doubtful spring’). This site hosts numerous petroglyphs and was recently declared a UNESCO world heritage site.
Day 6 Damaraland
After a big breakfast you will go on an excursion along the ephemeral rivers to explore this remarkable area and search for some animals including the elusive and amazing desert adapted elephants. These animals have amazingly found a way to become accustomed to this semi arid area.
Day 7 Damaraland – Etosha
After breakfast you will head towards the animal sanctuary of Namibia. You will travel via the small town of Outjo before heading to the Andersson’s gate, on the southern boundary of Etosha.
Day 8 Etosha
After an early breakfast we will depart on a game drive. As animals are mostly found around the waterholes (especially in the winter months), we will visit various waterholes in the 2 days. The waterholes support a rich diversity of animals, many of whom can often be seen all at once at the waterhole. We will take a picnic lunch along the road or have lunch at one of the restcamps. You might even have a swim in the middle of the day if time allows.
Day 10 Etosha – Windhoek
This day signals the end of our journey. We will head back to Windhoek mid morning along one of the main roads. If time allows we will stop in the small town of Okahandja at one of Namibia’s largest woodcarving markets. You will be dropped at your arranged accommodation or the Airport where you will say goodbye to your guide.
Let us know if you need pre and post tour accommodation as well.
